Updated: Oct 3

Guwahati, October 02, 2024: The Dr. Anamika Ray SHARE Communication Research Award 2024, instituted by the Dr. Anamika Ray Memorial Trust (ARMT), Guwahati, has brought accolades to the field of communication research with the announcement of its winners. This award recognizes the exceptional contributions of young researchers working in the fields of ‘Science, Health, Agriculture, Risk, and Environment’ (SHARE) Communication.

This year, Aastha Kashyap of Central University of Jharkhand and Chelsia S Thomas of Central University of Punjab emerged as the winners of the award for their outstanding dissertation. Aastha’s research “A Study to Measure the Extent of Scientific Literacy among the College/University Going Students of Jharkhand” provides valuable insights into the literacy levels of students in Jharkhand, making a meaningful contribution to the understanding of educational challenges in the region. While Chelsia S Thomas’ dissertation work entitled ‘Cervical Cancer and HPV Vaccine: Knowledge, Perceptions, Hesitancy, and Misinformation among Females in Kerala’ throws light on the lack of scientific temperament among the target audience. Both awardees have received certificates, a cheque representing the award money, and a collection of books as part of the recognition. The award certificates, cash award and books will be presented to the winners at their respective Universities.

Furthermore, another student of the Cental University of Jharkhand Ananya Behera's dissertation on the Science Fiction Films earned her the "Special Jury Mention." Ananya's work critically analyzes the impact of science fiction films on futuristic discourses.

In order to support and encourage young researchers working in the disciplines of "Science, Health, Agriculture, Risk, and Environment" (SHARE), ARMT launched the Dr Anamika Ray SHARE Communication Research Award in 2023 in the name of Dr Anamika Ray, who was a trailblazer in providing scientific communication education in Northeast India. The goal of the prize is to support logical and rational thought by encouraging communication in these important areas.
